Hearings for the Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and Misconduct in the Construction Industry will begin on Wednesday 1 October 2025, Commissioner Stuart Wood AM KC has announced.
The first public hearing will open with a formal reading of the Terms of Reference, followed by an opening statement from the Commissioner and an address from Senior Counsel Assisting, Liam Kelly KC.
Mr Wood will ensure the Inquiry is conducted fairly with thoroughness and rigour.
“This Commission of Inquiry serves an important public interest for Queensland,” he said.
“The construction industry plays a vital role in the state's economy and the wellbeing of workers and their families.
“All Queenslanders deserve workplaces that are safe, respectful and operate within the framework of the law.
“Open justice is fundamental to this process, and I encourage members of the public to follow and engage with this work.”
The Inquiry has been given broad powers to examine the matters set out in the Terms of Reference.
The opening hearing will run from 10.15am on Wednesday 1 October 2025 and will be livestreamed via the Commission website.
No evidence from witnesses will be heard at the opening hearing.
All members of the construction industry, along with anyone else with relevant information, are encouraged to make a submission via the Commission website.
Further information, including the dates of subsequent public hearings once confirmed, will be available on the Commission website.
