Witness list for public hearings 14–16 July 2026

The Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and Misconduct in the Construction Industry will hold public hearings between Tuesday 14 July 2026 and Thursday 16 July 2026. Hearings will be held in the Commonwealth Law Courts, Brisbane.

It is anticipated that evidence will be heard from the following witnesses:

  • David Balmer - Regional Director (Queensland), ACCIONA Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Chair, Queensland Major Contractors' Association
  • Trent Smith - General Manager – Industrial Relations, John Holland Pty Ltd
  • Glynn Ladbrooke - Operations Manager (Queensland/Northern Territory), John Holland Pty Ltd
  • Matthew Lowe - Director, Tallai Project Group Pty Ltd
  • Deanne Hawkswood - Chief Procurement Officer, Department of Transport and Main Roads
  • Julie Mitchell - Deputy Director-General, Infrastructure Management and Delivery, Department of Transport and Main Roads

It is envisaged that each hearing day will be conducted at the following times:

  • 10:00 am – 11:15 am
  • 11:30 am – 12:45 pm
  • 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Members of the public are encouraged to watch the hearings live via our website. Transcripts will be published online as they become available.

Workers, subcontractors, industry participants and community members are encouraged to come forward with information they feel is relevant to the inquiry. This information will be treated in strict confidence unless stated otherwise.
