Commission invites responses to Counsel Assisting's submissions on a Building and Construction Code

4 July 2026

In March 2026, the Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and Misconduct in the Construction industry released its discussion paper examining the potential introduction of an amended Building and Construction Code in Queensland (Proposed Code).

The Commission has since sought public feedback and engaged in consultation with stakeholders in the building and construction industry regarding the development and implementation of a Proposed Code.

On 14 April 2026, Counsel Assisting the Commission made submissions in support of the implementation of a Proposed Code and the establishment of an Independent Regulator.

Earlier today, the Commission published Counsel Assisting's further submission regarding the introduction of a Proposed Code and Independent Regulator (Submissions), which include draft Implementation Guidelines for the purposes of a Proposed Code at Annexure 2 (Guidelines). This is available on the Commission's website.

The Commission invites responses to the Submissions and Guidelines by 4pm Friday, 24 July 2026. Submissions in response can be provided to: legal@cfmeuinquiry.qld.gov.au.
