Commission seeks information on Queensland traffic control supply chain
4 March 2026
The Commission of Inquiry held a press conference today outside a Gold Coast address allegedly shared by a company, M1 Traffic Control QLD Pty Ltd, and a local traffic equipment supplier.
Staff assisting the Commission of Inquiry have identified that M1 Traffic Control QLD Pty Ltd appears to have recently commenced operating in South East Queensland.
In his report titled Rotting from the Top: The CFMEU in Victoria During the Setka Era,Geoffrey Watson SC documented allegations in relation to the M Group traffic control model and its links with Melbourne identity Mick Gatto.
Senior Counsel Assisting Patrick Wheelahan KC said, “The corporate structure in the ASIC records for M1 Traffic Control QLD shows similar features to those Watson SC documented: a Paragalli as director, a company with the name Portia Nominees as a shareholder, and all shares held non-beneficially.
“We will investigate any information we are given regarding the establishment of M1 Traffic Control QLD Pty Ltd in Queensland and those it does business with.”
The Commission will afford procedural fairness to anyone whose conduct is examined.
Anyone with information about the use of traffic control or labour hire companies on Queensland construction sites, or any other information of relevance to the question of misconduct in the construction industry in the state of Queensland, is encouraged to contact the Commission’s confidential tipline on 1800 810 933 or to make a report via www.cfmeuinquiry.qld.gov.au.
