Witness list for public hearings 28–31 July 2026

The Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and Misconduct in the Construction Industry will hold public hearings between Tuesday 28 July 2026 and Friday 31 July 2026. Hearings will be held in Courtroom 17, Level 4, Brisbane Magistrates Court.
It is anticipated that evidence will be heard from the following witnesses from Tuesday – Thursday.
- Julie Mitchell – Deputy Director-General Infrastructure Delivery Management at the Department of Transport and Main Roads
- Timothy Ellis – Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager at JF Hull Holdings Pty Ltd
- Leigh Hahn – Senior Project Manager at Georgiou Group Pty Ltd
- Ben Weston – Project Safety Manager at BMD Constructions Pty Ltd
- Chris Demartini – Executive Project Manager at SMEC
- John (Jack) Ryan – Deputy Regional Director, Metropolitan Region at the Department of Transport and Main Roads
The Friday hearing day has been scheduled for the purpose of allowing Geoffrey Watson SC to be cross-examined. Subject to further order, this will be the last opportunity to cross-examine Mr Watson SC on any matter.
It is envisaged that the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday hearing days will be conducted at the following times:
- 10:00 am – 11:15 am
- 11:30 am – 12:45 pm
- 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
It is envisaged that the Friday hearing day will be conducted at the following times:
- 9:00 am – 10:30 am
- 10:45 am – 12:30 pm
- 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
